She will be accompanied by special guest musician Kat Eggleston, and other islanders. Kate MacLeod and Kat Eggleston published two recordings from many years of playing as a duo. (4:45-5:30pm) VAN NORMAN

Fendershine 2.jpg

This powerful rock trio brings together the VanNorman brother’s (islander Chuck and brother Darren from Seattle) with x-islander Fletcher Andrews.  The repertoire is all original with influences that focus heavily on intricate and driving bass & guitar lines.  Within the music you might pick up elements of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Rush, Rod Stewart, Pink Floyd, Blondie, and much more.  The sound is contemporary, solid and flows within and around lyrics that ring honestly about the current world. Chuck is a virtuoso on guitar and his voice matches the tonality and intensity of the music.  Darren’s bass playing is potent and “full-on” holding down the bottom end while propelling the music forward with intricate patterns, chords and harmonics.  Fletcher a former Vashon islander for 25 years is well known by the island music community having played drums and percussion with many of Vashon’s rock and jazz bands as well as being the house drummer for many variety shows and art openings.

Vashon based Carnival Knowledge has been capturing listeners with their melodic sounds, horns and harmony for about 3 weeks now. The members of Carnival Knowledge have been playing together in some capacity for years in genres ranging from rock to ska to zydeco crunk and are thought to be the originators of 'Peasant Rock'. Founded over the fire pit, they bring a warmth to their performance and often smell of smoke. Carnival Knowledge has shared the stage with such performers as Dim Summit, American Whey, Tim Couldn't Make It and Roxbury Pound. Though they've won zero Grammy's, they are hoping to have a member win the Eggleston trophy this year.  They are entering the studio this summer to record their first record 'Tolstoy Hotel'.
